Q: Is CHA banned for use in cosmetics in Canada?
A: No. CHA is not banned for use in cosmetics in Canada. Inolex products containing CHA are approved for cosmetic use in Canada according to Ministerial Condition No. 20655.
There are multiple Ministerial Conditions related to CHA in Canada with different conclusions, but Inolex products are only covered by one, No. 20655, and that conclusion is “cosmetic use permitted under certain restrictions”.
Q: Does CHA have use level restrictions in Canada?
A: In certain cases, yes. There are use level and application restrictions for Inolex products containing CHA, but they only apply to Inolex and Inolex customers importing the products into Canada directly from Inolex. If you are not importing a CHA containing product directly from Inolex into Canada, these use level and application restrictions do not apply to you.

Q: What is the recommended use level for CHA?
A: The CIR and CA NHPID recommend a maximum use level of 0.3% Caprylhydroxamic Acid in cosmetic formulations. All individual Inolex products containing CHA have recommended use levels aligned to these recommendations.
