Overseeing the Global NCS TOX Project to bring greater transparency.
PHILADELPHIA, PA, January 27, 2021— The European Organization of Cosmetic Ingredients Industries and Services (UNITIS) has named Olivier Khuu, Director of Inolex Provence, ieS Labo, as Chairman of their Executive Committee.
Khuu will lead the organization in its mission to standardize and provide greater transparency to the toxicological assessment of cosmetic ingredients from natural origins. He is charged with overseeing the completion of the NCS TOX Project, a global research initiative to establish a predictive database on the toxicology of Natural Complex Substances – Plant Extracts (NCS). The effort, which is slated for completion in 2022, will produce data on over 25,000 molecules from one thousand plants.
“It is an honor to serve the association and its members in this leadership capacity,” said Khuu. “The NCS TOX Project is a significant effort to demonstrate ingredient safety and to promote innovation through access to standardized scientific data on plant-based materials used in cosmetics and nutraceutical products.”
Khuu brings decades of experience in cosmetics and beauty care to his board appointment with UNITIS. Since 2017, he has served as Director of Inolex Provence, ieS Labo which produces and distributes natural and organic plant and herbal extracts for beauty care.
“We are in a new era of responsibility to our communities, from industry partners to consumers,” said Khuu. “UNITIS is committed to providing digital access to qualified scientific data on the composition of natural ingredient sources. Formulators and industry experts can be confident in the safety of the ingredients they use, and better promote the use of naturals in the beauty supply chain.”
Khuu has been a contributing member of the UNITIS Board since 2018. He succeeds Ricard Armengol, who served as Chairman of the organization for eight years.
